The firm was founded in 1979 by Brian Burns, David Whitehead and Steve Porter as Burns & Whitehead. In 1985, Brian Burns retired and the firm changed its name to Whitehead & Porter. Both David Whitehead and Steve Porter are rated “Preeminent AV” by Martindale-Hubbell, the esteemed legal directory. “Preeminent AV” is the highest rating Martindale-Hubbell bestows.
